About Tobago

Tobago (Toe- BAY- go), is an island that offers uncrowded beaches nestled among tropical wildlife. An ideal vacation spot that offers a lot to see and do, or a place to just sit back and relax; located approximately 3 1/2 hours southeast of Miami, Florida.

If you are traveling from the United States, you may want to consider a flight from Miami, Florida to San Juan, Puerto Rico; either fly directly into Tobago from Puerto Rico, or do a little island hopping and enter Tobago from St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, or Trinidad. United Airlines and BWIA are currently offering a direct flight from Washington, D.C. to Tobago. AA also flies to Trinidad and Tobago. We suggest that you contact your local airlines or Travel Agent.

While in Tobago, please keep in mind that although the people are friendly and open to visitors, the best policy is to ask before taking their pictures. Dress code is fairly conservative. Long pants and dresses are appropriate for evening. Swim wear should be reserved for the beaches (nude or topless sunbathing is against the law). US dollars and/or credit cards are widely accepted, however, we suggest that you convert to TT$ for the smaller establishments and rural areas.

It is illegal to buy or export wildlife products or be in possession of illegal narcotic substances. Please help us preserve the natural environment of Tobago; admire the wildlife and exotic plants, but don't remove them.

In addition to some of the world's loveliest unspoiled beaches that are fringed by palm, breadfruit, mango, and banana trees, Tobago offers a full range of activities that includes a botanic garden, bird watching, remote waterfalls, tennis, snorkeling, scuba diving, and the world famous Mt. Irvine 18 hole championship golf course. Also available: rental of leisure craft with crew for sailing, fishing, swimming off the islands, and parties in the sea.
